Excursion: Treasures under the sea. The shipwreck of Binissafúller

Imatge25 Abr

The Museu de Menorca inaugurates a new activity, "Showcase Zero", where objects never before exhibited to the public will be presented regularly.
The archaeologist who will lead us through this activity is Octavi Pons. He will start off with pieces from the Binissafúller shipwreck. At the beginning of the IV century BC. a Punic merchant ship from Ibiza sank in Binissafúller, loaded with wine produced somewhere on the Catalan coast or the eastern part of the peninsula.
Between 2006 and 2016, three underwater archaeological campaigns were carried out. In these campaigns, remains of Iberian flat-mouthed amphorae were recovered, some of which still had grape seeds inside, as well as some Punic and Greek ceramics that were part of the dishes used by the crew.
