The workshop will provide an opportunity to showcase and promote Menorca’s Talayotic heritage internationally, while sharing experiences with other territories recognised as UNESCO World Heritage Sites
The Talayotic Menorca Agency will once again take an active part in a meeting of the Alliance of Cultural Landscapes and Associated Sites, World Heritage, reaffirming its commitment to raising the international profile and visibility of Menorca’s Talayotic heritage through cooperation with other UNESCO-recognised territories.
The meeting will take place on 22 and 23 October in Antequera (Málaga), which will host the workshop “Landscape and Archaeological Heritage: Readings and Interpretations of the Territory”. The event will bring together representatives from several UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Spain, Andorra and Portugal.
The sessions will be held at the Site Museum of the Antequera Dolmens Archaeological Site, providing a forum for exchanging knowledge and experiences on the interpretation, conservation and protection of cultural and archaeological heritage.
Representing the Talayotic Menorca Agency will be Simón Gornés, Councillor for the Environment and Biosphere Reserve, and Bàrbara Jordi, a technical officer at the Agency. Their participation will help raise awareness of Menorca’s Talayotic heritage, strengthen cooperation with other World Heritage territories and identify experiences and best practices that could be applied to the management of Menorca’s World Heritage property.
Through this latest participation, the Talayotic Menorca Agency is reaffirming its commitment to playing an active role in heritage cooperation networks. Its aim is not only to highlight the distinctive character and outstanding universal value of Menorca’s Talayotic heritage, but also to draw on shared knowledge and experience to support its long-term preservation.
The Alliance of Cultural Landscapes and Associated Sites, World Heritage, is an association that promotes the exchange of knowledge and experience between sites recognised by UNESCO. Its aim is to foster the conservation, sustainable management and promotion of cultural heritage.
